Yesterday evening the Charleville Lodge Hotel Dublin posted an incredibly controversial and down right rude status about guests complaining about room prices for Ed Sheeran’s gig on the 24th and 25th of July.
The comments made were completely out of order, telling guests to find accommodation in the ‘St Vincent De Paul Shelters or The DSPCA shelters if they weren’t happy to pay the hotels prices.

Now while I am completely outraged by the comments made in the status, especially bringing homeless shelter’s and animals into the matter, I cant help but think this is a massive publicity stunt. The comment alone has flocked media attention in their masses to the hotel.
The hotel boss has been doing interview’s all morning and the media have had an absolute field day. Charleville Lodge Dublin has been plastered over the front cover of many newspapers and I completely believe he’s getting all the attention he wanted from the comments made. There is no way on earth a hotel would remain open in this day and age if the owner and staff actually acted in this way!
As I was scrolling down the Facebook page I noticed that a lot of this hotel’s updates are quite risque and controversial. In one comment made they slag a journalist of for a bad report of their hotel. In another they publicly announce that a couple staying in a room in their hotel are ‘copulating’ in the bedroom all day and asked them if they could ‘keep the noise down’.
There is no doubt in my mind that all of this has been done for media attention and to draw people into their hotel, however after these updates i personally would never set foot in their hotel. Who knows what could be said about you?!It has completely put me off staying with them for life, the Charleville Lodge need to re-think their publicity plan. I can’t see this hotel being appealing to anyone who does not know the owner or the staff.
Then again maybe i’m wrong, maybe this man has completely lost the plot and wants to ruin his own business, his name and his livelihood. I doubt it though ,an awful lot of effort has gone in to these updates referring to anyone and everyone who blasts the hotel as ‘haters’ and announcing to the public how fabulous it is while everyone else is not worthy to even stay in it.
Of course I’m not all doom and gloom, it’s obvious these posts were made by a sarcastic middle-aged man who just isn’t all that happy with himself or anything else. These comments were obviously made in the attention of the public finding them humorous and intelligent. Paul fails at this however and comes across as snobby and arrogant. Perhaps it would be better if he posted an update with an apology and a statement telling the public it was meant to be a humorous post. I don’t see this happening however as he’s getting too much media attention from the whole thing. As they say ‘Any publicity is good publicity’.
